The UQ Aikido dojo is an affiliated University of Queensland sports club and is a proud member the Aikido Kokikai family. Kokikai Aikido is taught in accordance with the four principles developed by our founder and president, Shuji Maruyama Sensei.

Steve Henderson is an experienced practitioner in Aikido Kokikai and is the UQ dojo’s Chief Instructor. He regularly attends annual camps and seminars with Maruyama Sensei and other Kokikai instructors from all over Australia and Japan. Steve Sensei provides a safe, friendly and relaxed training environment where students can unlock their full potential studying Aikido.
Nathan Harvey has a wealth of experience in a range of martial arts styles. In 2020 Nathan was promoted to UQ dojo’s Deputy Chief Instructor.
Sophie, Angela, Sally and Sarah are our Junior Instructors. They will welcome you and introduce you to Sensei. They will help you with training protocols and safety on the mats.
